Surface Inspection Rating (SIR) Training Accreditation

This course provides participants with information on the VicRoads Surface Inspection Rating (SIR) method, a simple and practical data collection technique for road surface condition (i.e. cracking, aggregate loss, flushing, patching, texture and deformation). The SIR evaluation system is the visual method VicRoads uses to rate the condition of road pavements.

Description

Overview

This course provides participants with information on the VicRoads Surface Inspection Rating (SIR) method, a simple and practical data collection technique for road surface condition (i.e. cracking, aggregate loss, flushing, patching, texture and deformation). The SIR evaluation system is the visual method VicRoads uses to rate the condition of road pavements.

The attendee will be provided with the knowledge necessary to undertake surface inspection ratings (SIR) using the VicRoads TB50 – Guide to Surface Inspection Rating. A skills-based field assignment and assessment is included in the registration fee. If successfully completed, this will lead to the awarding of a Certificate of Accreditation as a VicRoads SIR inspector. This an optional component for those wishing to be engaged to undertake VicRoads SIR inspections.  Required prior knowledge for this course is a basic understanding of sprayed seal and asphalt.
