This Workshop by live webinar is presented in two half day packages of two sessions each, with an optional workshop session and is Intended to inform on the principles & practices involved in concrete pavement design The course program will closely follow the content in the appropriate Chapters of the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology – Part 2: Pavement Structural Design and Part 4C: Materials for the Concrete Pavements, which are used as the principal references.

Intended to inform on the principles & practices involved in concrete pavement design, the course program will closely follow the content in the appropriate Chapters of the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology – Part 2: Pavement Structural Design and Part 4C: Materials for the Concrete Pavements, which are used as the principal references.
The materials content will also cover more information than is in the current Guide, as the selection of materials is critical to producing a road/pavement design that will deliver both structural and functional performance. Appropriate joint types and their design are key elements and will be discussed in detail.

Primary Presenter
Peter Carson — Director of Carson Group
Peter Carson is a civil engineer with degrees in Civil Engineering and Surveying and a Master’s in Pavements Technology. He is Technical Director, Pavements at Arcadis and has over 30 years’ experience on major infrastructure projects, including expert witness roles for the Supreme Courts of Queensland, NSW and WA.
His recent work includes the Warringah Freeway Upgrade—winner of the Avo Tinni Award for best urban pavements project—Elizabeth Drive East, Waitemata Harbour Connections in Auckland, and the Hexham Straight Widening. Peter served on the ASCP board for a decade and spent 23 years in senior management roles at RTA/RMS/TfNSW delivering numerous Pacific Highway upgrades, the Hunter Expressway and M1 Motorway improvements.
A recognised industry trainer, he is a grey card instructor and has delivered concrete pavement training across every Australian state and territory. He is a regular ASCP conference contributor and will present at the Fifteenth International
