This Workshop by live webinar is presented in two half day packages of two sessions each and provides information on the necessary planning and management of Road Construction, together with an overview of the resources and the necessary elements required in planning and managing investigation works prior to commencement of major site works in road construction.

The Course provides an understanding of the operations involved in the loosening, removing and depositing of earth, soil and rock and information on the construction of earthworks and the preparation of pavement foundations subsequent to the construction of a pavement structure. The aspect of Roadsides is also covered as they provide an important range of functions, including: access for the construction and maintenance of the road, control of surface water drainage, the provision of underground drainage, the provision of safety barriers, signs and lighting for the safe operation of the road.

Paul Robinson, Highway Maintenance Specialist
Paul has a Master’s Degree in International Highway Engineering and an international career in road pavements technology, maintenance management, highway network planning, design, sealed and unsealed pavements and road construction, maintenance and training. As a Principal Research and Consulting Engineer with ARRB, he undertook research, developed Austroads guidelines and presented training in Unsealed Roads Maintenance, Pavement Rehabilitation, Pavement Condition Management, Road Maintenance Management and Project Delivery. He was a contributory author to the ARRB Sealed and Unsealed Roads Manuals. He also has international experience in road engineering and network maintenance management, notably in developing countries of the Asia Pacific region.
